Honoring the Heart of Our Schools: My Fellow Man Educator Appreciation Awards

At My Fellow Man, we believe that strong communities are built in classrooms long before they are seen in boardrooms, courtrooms, or council chambers. Every dream, every breakthrough, and every success story has a teacher somewhere in the background who poured, pushed, prayed, and prepared that student for what was ahead. That is why we make it our mission to show up for the people who show up for our children every single day.

Recently, My Fellow Man had the honor of surprising educators across four Atlanta schools: Harper Archer Elementary School, Douglass High School, Washington High School, and Mays High School. Through our My Fellow Man Educator Appreciation Awards, we celebrated teachers with tangible expressions of gratitude….self-care checks and restaurant gift cards designed to remind them that their work matters and that their well-being matters too.

This initiative reflects the heart and vision of our founder, Johnny Mims, who has always believed that caring for “our fellow man” starts with those who care for others. Teachers are often underappreciated and undervalued, yet they carry one of the greatest responsibilities in our society. They shape minds, nurture gifts, and create safe spaces where students can grow into their fullest potential. Without teachers, what would the world be?

The Educator Appreciation Awards are our way of saying thank you in a way that feels personal, practical, and powerful. A self-care check is more than money….it is a message. It says, we see you. It says, your rest matters. It says, your work is worthy of honor.
